The weapon's rarity depends solely on the quality of Coal used. Low quality Coal such as Ashen will produce a low quality green weapon with low stats; however, you will craft a more powerful blue weapon with decent stats by using Refined Coal. High quality Coal like Glowing Coal will also allow you to craft a blue weapon while having an increased chance to craft an extremely rare purple weapon with high stats.

Along with Coal, we also have Spindles available! The rules that apply to Coal (Heroes of Three Kingdoms Gold)also apply to Spindles. Rust Spindles allow you to craft a low quality green item. You may craft a blue quality weapon with a Gold Spindle, while also producing that quality with a Bone Spindle and have an increased chance to get purple quality. Remember, using the highest quality material will produce a better quality item and always has a chance to become purple quality!
