War of Angels Review by Zevri

War of Angels is a new mmo being released both by Gamigo and Neowiz. Explore a massive world with a lot of possiblies open to you such as starting your own guild, taking over guild cities and build it the way you want it, exploring massive dungeons, and take advantage of both the pvp and pve elements available in the game.

The game has a lot of promise. At first I was a bit standoffish due to the limited character customization, but as I played more of it I did see a lot of potential in the game. It does feature some popular features from games like Perfect World and Aion. In which guilds can have land, and that battles aren't limited to just land. They seemed to bundle a lot of features that are popular in mmos like flying, mini games, instance dungeons, and put them in an experience that works.

One mini game I did get into was the fishing one in the game. You can go and buy a pole and bait fairly cheap, War of Angels Gold stand next to an area of water and go finishing. The fishing game itself is fairly simple and requires you to match button presses which move and go near a fish icon, if you are near it or on top of the fish, then you get a Good and after a few you get the fish you were after. To some this may not seem like much, but it gives you a distraction from just endlessly slaughtering monsters, which is a good thing and helps keep you interested in the game.

Graphically the game could be improved, especially in some character models, but I do love the landscape and the detail put into the games monsters. One thing you will notice when you pause and look at some of them is that most of them have an animation they do every once in awhile. For example Moul Hunters will thrust their spear into the ground, climb on it, and scout around. This adds just a bit more to make the game's world feel alive and is a nice touch in general to the more just roaming monsters you see in other games.

One thing to note from CBT and most likely when OBT starts is that there is a lot of bugs in the game, this is highly expected and you won't get away from it. Some to note was that a lot of the translations need heavy work. One that did turn me off as well is the game does natively support gamepads, but once I plugged mine in my character started running in circles. Now this wasn't due to my controller, since I tried it in another game, and it didn't have the issue. So since this is CBT I forgive them, and I am highly looking forward to reviewing the game when it is out using a joypad to control my character. I am interested in seeing how it will play out.
