Earthrise Devs Talk about Skills

Recently, we got an opportunity to talk with the developers in Masthead Studios about the upcomming sci-fi MMORPG Earthrise. Plamen Hristov, game design manager at Masthead Studios and Momchil Dilov, the lead writer of Earthrise talks about the game, the combat, the craft, etc., check it out.

1. Earthrise has been in Beta testing for a while, but the curious public has no idea about what's going on with the game. So could you shed some light on the progress of the game? What is the team currently working on?

Plamen Hristov: Currently all our efforts are directed toward polishing the game. Our teams are working on both revising the content and stabilizing Earthrise Credits the game in a fashion that would allow players to experience Earthrise the way it should be.

2. There are lots of sci-fi MMORPGs and also several post-apocalyptic games on the market. Are there any features that can make Earthrise stand out?

Momchil Dilov: We always love questions that allow us to explain the important features of Earthrise. First of all, Earthrise is a game of diversity, contrast and freedom. Lore-wise, players will be offered a world that contains a diversity of zones and characters, and conveys the backstory of the game in not one, but several points of view. Every part of the game will be offered in a fashion that expects players to choose how to perceive it. The same thing goes in gameplay. We're offering a myriad of possibilities that allows players to choose their own path to glory.

3. As a sandbox MMO, exploration is an important part of it, so I'm wondering how large the world is?

Plamen Hristov: The island of Enterra is a huge piece of land that harbors several large cities and dozens of wild areas that are waiting to be discovered by players. We've scattered the most compelling sites around the island and it's up to players to discover them.

4. In the post-apocalyptic world, will I encounter some particular wasteland things? For example, if I'm not careful, could I get trapped in the radiant zone?

Plamen Hristov: Well of course, given that Enterra is the only clean place in the world where humanity can survive and there’s a large polluted ocean surrounding the island. If players venture outside the coastal waters, they’ll be unfortunate enough to experience the corrosive influence of the deep ocean.
